Accessibility: Ability to Caption Nearpod Audio Presentations
C
Christopher Phillips
Currently there is no way to add a caption file to Nearpod Presentations so that they can be used by Deaf/Hard of Hearing students. This would be a huge step toward making our presentations more inclusive for all learners!

As a user, I am concerned that Nearpod currently lacks closed captioning for hearing-impaired students. This is a significant accessibility issue that is not in compliance with accessibility standards. It impacts our ability to use the product effectively and inclusively.
Please consider prioritizing this feature to ensure all students can benefit from your platform.

Without captions for video content, I won't be in compliance with UDL best practices which are moving from a recommendation to a requirement. Has there been any movement toward captions since this request was originally made in Dec. 2020?

This is quickly becoming an issue at our college where conversations are underway about mandatory closed captioning for audio content in all courses. For us, this is a need, not just a want.

Amplifying this! This may be a deal breaker for use at my college

I use Nearpod all the time! This is an essential feature to have added.

This feature is essential. We would use Nearpod for coursework without cc at this point.

We are continually working to make all courses we teach accessible to all of our learners and this feature would support everyone in this effort.

I have had to limit my us of nearpod because closed captions cannot be added. I would continue to use this platform if captions can be added and would recommend it to others in higher education across the country. I had stopped recommending it when I learned there was not a way to add captions.

This is a make or break deal on our continuation with supporting NearPod. It's simply non-negotiable, by law and by good principles.

This would help us make best use of visual content, while not resorting to integrating hosted video as a workaround, which requires considerably more time.
